SPATIUM. Danish contemporary art KUMU, Tallinn January 19 – May 13, 2012
From January 19 through May 13, the KUMU museum's 5th floor is hosting the exhibition SPATIUM, which features the work of ten of Denmark's young contemporary artists. The unique architectural form of the museum – a distinct half-moon, served as inspiration for the artists and has been integrated into their site-specific works.
Participating in the exhibition are: Tove Storch, Jacob Jessen, Lea Porsager, Kasper Akhøj, Rolf Nowotny, Marie Kølbæk Iversen, Tamar Guimaraes, Ferdinand Ahm Krag, Torben Ribe and Jacob Kirkegaard. The selected artists represent various media – video, sculpture, painting and installations – but they are united in the way that they use their materials. Their aim is to sharpen the viewer's sight; to allow the viewer to see something unusual in usual objects; to make the invisible – visible. Humor and a poetic formalism are characteristic in the works of these artists.
