Everybody is someone’s daughter. That is the starting point of Swedish photographer Lisen Stibeck’s suite portraying girls and women between 16 and 25 years of age, all from different countries, continents and walks of life. Driven by her fascination for pictures that show the life around people that we do not normally see, Stibeck has travelled the world for four years. She has been taking pictures of students, artists, models, prostitutes, belly dancers and mothers, all with the ambition to capture the vulnerability and search for identity that signifies the transition from being a girl to being a woman.

Lisen Stibeck (1952) has developed her art by attending numerous photo workshops around the world led by photographers that inspire her. During the last three years one of the world’s most important photographers, Mary Ellen Mark, has been her mentor and friend. She has previously exhibited at the National Museum of Iceland in Reykjavik and she has an upcoming exhibition at the Kulturhuset in Mora, Sweden.
