Northern Women in CHANEL Fotografiska Museet, Stockholm, Sweden June 30 – September 11
The traveling photo project “Northern Women in CHANEL” is shown at the Stockholm Photograph Museum from June 30 to September 11.
Swedish stylist Ingela Klementz-Farago, together with her photographer husband Peter Farago, spent a year working closely with the fashion house CHANEL; they were given unrestricted access to the house's archives of high-fashion, resulting in the epic photo-story – Northern Women in CHANEL.
To dress the Northern Girls in the spirit of France, the authors crossed tundras and arctic plains carrying bags packed with the famous fashion label's dresses, suits and exclusive one-of-a-kind outfits, dating from 1920 all the way up to the recent collections of fashion week.
45 models from Scandinavia and the Baltic States participated in the creative project, many of them having been muses of the French fashion house's creative director, Karl Otto Lagerfeld. The photographic prints feature Northern Girls such as Helena Christensen, Carmen Kaas, and Freja Beha, as well as internationally known Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian models – Ginta Lapiņa, Ieva Lagūna, Ingūna Butāne and Edita Vilkeviciute.
The 384-page ode is fashioned much like a modern theatrical play that stars classic clothes, the determinant hand being Ingela Klement-Farago's personal sense of style, which is inspired by opera, dance and art.
Beginning July 1, a limited number of "Northern Women in CHANEL" bookswill be available from Farago Publishing's web site, store.faragopublishing.com
