Live Streaming Video: “Art in Public Spaces. The Responsibility of the Curator and the Collector”
Toaday, at 11.00 AM, in the Conference Hall of the Art Museum Riga Bourse, in connection with the “Purvītis Prize 2015”, the organizers of the Purvītis Prize and the internet website Arterritory.com invite all interested parties to listen to a series of lectures on the theme of “Art in Public Spaces. The Responsibility of the Curator and the Collector”, and to participate in the public discussion afterwards.
The event “Art in Public Spaces” will be emceed by Kaspars Vanags – art-and-culture theoretician and curator; Vanags will be curating Latvia's exhibit, “Icons”, at this year's 56th Venice Biennale.

Sune Nordgren (Sweden/Norway) – former director of the National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, Norway; founding director of the influential BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Gateshead, UK); curator of the art collections found in the design hotels (e.g., Oslo's The Thief) of businessman and art collector Petter Stordalen; longterm and persistent promoter of the Kivik Art Centre's art and architecture park in Sweden.
Kęstutis Kuizinas (Lithuania) – Director and curator of the Vilnius Contemporary Art Center (CAC), the largest contemporary art space in the Baltics; Kuizins will speak about how he and his colleagues expand their art space beyond the already-impressive 2400 m2 of indoor space belonging to CAC.

Olesya Turkina (Russia) – a leading instructor of long-standing at the School for Young Artists in St. Petersburg; Turkina will speak on the curator's role in promoting art and educating the public.
Indrek Kasela (Estonia) – Businessman, supporter of culture, art collector and co-owner ofTemnikova & Kasela, Tallinn's most active and ambitious art gallery. Kasela's lecture is titled “Corporative Social Responsibility and Art Collecting from an Institutional Viewpoint”.
