Gintaras Didžiapetris “Color and Device” Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), Vilnius Until May 19, 2013
Kęstutis Kuizinas, the Director of Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Vilnius, introduces the exhibition of Gintaras Didžiapetris, who is the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition the CAC.
Gintaras Didžiapetris (b. 1985) graduated from photography and media department at Vilnius Academy of Art and today his artistic practice freely explores a wide range of media – film, photography, sound art, performance, drawing and prints. The artist’s never ending search of adaptable ideas and their structures, rather than their representations in a physical form, has already brought Gintaras Didžiapetris a worldwide recognition. In 2011 he participated in the 54th Venice Biennale’s International Pavilion “ILLUMInations”, which was curated by the Swiss art historian, critic, and curator Bice Curiger. His exhibition practice also includes various presentations in art institutions throughout Europe, US and Canada.
The artist’s newest exposition at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Vilnius looks behind the concept of “Liquid Logistics” that the artist describes as “a special category of logistics that relates to liquid products, and is used extensively in the 'Supply Chain for Liquids' discipline.” The exhibition is also accompanied by a programme of films and events, and launches of two publications: the artist’s book “Color and Device” and the fourth issue of “The Federal” magazine, which is co-edited by Gintaras Didžiapetris himself.
