For the 16th time in a row, autumn in Moscow will be brightened by the ART MOSCOW international art fair, taking place this year from September 19 – 23. Last year galleries from 14 countries took part in the fair, and it was attended by over 20,000 visitors and 400 journalists, including ART MOSCOW, established in 1995, has proved itself to be the most significant art market event in the Russian art scene, strengthening this position every year.

ART MOSCOW has made a call for applications, inviting art galleries, publishing houses and professional periodicals to apply to participate in this year’s fair. Applications are open until May 1.

Alongside the gallery show at the Central House of Artists, ART MOSCOW will also be complemented this year by a special Moscow Art Week, designed to draw the attention of the public, for example, by organising open house evenings at artist studios. All the major art spaces and galleries of the capital will host exhibitions, and there will be educational lectures and a conference with the participation of the world’s intellectual elite. Fields such as contemporary art, philosophy and sociology will be represented, and promised speakers include Nobel Prize winners. Moderator of the conference is to be Peter Weibel (1944), the renowned art critic from Germany who was curator of the Fourth Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art last year.
